All three new teams were bought by Wasabi Ventures Sports Management and will start play on June 1.

The Ballpark has a seating capacity of 3,000 people. A season ticket for the Bugs is $50 and single-game tickets are $5.

The Greater Northeast Collegiate Baseball League is a wooden bat league formed in 2017 and is focused on bringing high-level collegiate summer baseball to the Northeast with all the teams based in Maine. The GNCBL was bought earlier this year by The Players League, based in North Carolina.

“This really is a showcase league. This is a chance for these kids to show what they can do. Having it be a wooden bat is one of the biggest reasons why the kids want to be a part of this. It’s that extra set of playing time, at-bats, and work on your position,” Jeff Musgrove, co-founder and operating partner of Wasabi Ventures Sports, said.

The GNCBL also includes the Sebago Slammin’ Salmon and Gorham Lightning.

The teams play 24 regular season games followed by playoffs.
